About Us.

Broch Ceoban (pronounced “broch”, as in loch, “key – oh - ban”) is a group of dark-ages recreationists with special interest in the British Isles during the period when Imperial political influence and cultural infrastructure had just collapsed.   More specifically, the British Isles of 1000-1500 AD. We for the most part are barbarians.

The rule of law has disappered.  Trade routes are becoming ever more dangerous and roads ever less traveled.  Cities are abandoned and the ancient hillforts again buzz with anxious and frenetic activity.  Once client kingdoms have rebelled to become fragmented and squabbling enclaves of warlord thugs.  Various sects of Christianity and Paganism struggle for dominion over our our lands and our mortal souls.  Plague occasionally makes its morbid appearance.   Life is chaos, and fragile.

Against this apocalyptic, dark, and violent backdrop this is also a time of fascinating people, of great accomplishments, and of hope, of learning, and of cultural sophistication.  

With others here and across the channel in Amorica, we are Britons, we are Celts, we are Roman citizens, and we are the last of Western Civilization.  We do not bow to invaders.  As long as we stand, hope, and the light remains.

We are warriors of The Empire of Medieval Pursuits,  a growing group of medieval recreationists that is striving to live the lives of unspoken heros of the past, and by living, learning and practicing our martial arts and chivalry, hope to inspire and teach others of this time, to appeciate and understand our unique place in this world, and just how fragile life really is.

Although we are a Celtic fantasy based group, there are no elves or orcs here, we play and live our personas as if we were people in another time period, and through that, we can grasp the realities of our forefathers and hopefully...learn from them. We welcome you to join us, to live, love, fight, and die with honour, and have fun doing so..........
